Commissions

Each year Chisenhale Gallery, The Showroom and Studio Voltaire each commission an artist to produce a major new exhibition or offsite event in response to the question: How to work together.

The first round of commissioned artists were Gerry Bibby (Australia, lives Berlin), Céline Condorelli (France, lives London) and Ella Kruglyanskaya (Latvia, lives New York). Their exhibitions took place in our galleries in Spring 2014.

The commissioned artists in the second year were Ahmet Öğüt (Turkey, lives Istanbul, Amsterdam, Berlin) at Chisenhale Gallery, Wendelien van Oldenborgh (Netherlands, lives Rotterdam) at The Showroom and Sanya Kantarovsky (Russia, lives New York) at Studio Voltaire. The exhibitions, considering ideas of collaboration, cooperation and cohabitation, opened in Spring 2015 and were the first UK solo exhibitions for all three artists.

Our third and final round of commissioned exhibitions will be presented in Spring 2016 with artists Maria Eichhorn (Germany) at Chisenhale Gallery, Sharon Hayes (US) at Studio Voltaire and Koki Tanaka (Japan) at The Showroom.
